Dwarf Fortress Classic 53.16 brought fixes to taverns and scholars

Bay 12 Games lists Dwarf Fortress Classic 53.16 as an August 2026 release for Windows and Linux. Its development log describes a patch focused on quality-of-life changes and bug fixes. [1][2]

The studio says it addressed overindulgent tavern patrons, slowed the growth of dinosaurs, and fixed visiting scholars leaving with books and scrolls. The same log also lists changes to menus, graphics, and other systems. [2]
